A brand new Brew House Bungalow is set to open at the Cataract Street restaurant Friday. Genesee is also a regional brewer for Mike's Hard Lemonade and other malt beverage products, with Genesee Brewing Company producing almost all of the Mike's sold to the east coast market. Former Genesee employee Mike Gaesser, who worked at the brewery for 45 years before his retirement last year, had the idea for the first Keg Tree. Now, his legacy continues as a celebration of the season and nod to Genesee’s long history and contribution to Rochester’s booming food and beverage scene.

On the other hand, if you enjoy beers from the major beer producers or companies like Yuengling, you’ll likely enjoy the beers at Genesee. Our Pilot Brewery contains Newlands steam-fired 20-barrel brewing system. This small batch system allows us to create recipes and experiment with new ingredients.

Since 2012, Genesee has run a brew house in a building that was once part of the original brewery campus and is located directly adjacent to the Genesee River. And there's a pilot brewery, where Genesee experiments with new recipes and produces craft beers — some just for the brew house pub and others sold in limited release to off-premises accounts. While the rooftop deck and outdoor patio are closed during the colder months, there is indoor seating on the brew house’s second floor throughout the year. Most of the seating features table service, though if you opt to sit on the rooftop deck (and you should on a nice day), you’ll have to order at the bar. The brew house is inside a two-story building just north of downtown Rochester. Located adjacent to the main Genesee brewery, the brew house offers the chance to sample their beers and learn more about the company’s history.
From 2000 to 2009, the company was known as the High Falls Brewing Company. In 2009, High Falls was acquired by the capital investment firm KPS Capital. Together with newly acquired Labatt USA, KPS merged the two companies as North American Breweries.
